On April 9th 2021 Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, and H.E. Mr. Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, co-chaired a Virtual Summit between India and the Netherlands.
A joint statement towards a strategic partnership on water was issued.
The 2 countries already have strong ties on trade, commerce and investments.
The Netherlands is the 3rd biggest investor in India and India the 4th biggest investor in The Netherlands.
The Netherlands is an important gateway to Europe for Indian companies.
India welcomed the Netherlands’ guidelines on the Indo-Pacific which recognises the importance of the region for global peace, security and prosperity and identifies India as a key partner to engage with. Both leaders emphasised the close convergence between each other’s vision for a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
The 2 leaders stressed that Climate Action is a key priority for both countries and agreed to cooperate closely in fulfilling their ambitious commitments under the Paris Agreement.
