As your are aware, APEDA is a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, and is the nodal agency for promoting Indian agriculture and processed food exports, responsible for facilitating and promoting export of horticulture, floriculture, processed food, poultry products, dairy and other agro products from the country.
India is bestowed with several agro-climatic zones conducive to the production of sensitive and delicate floriculture products. During the decade, floriculture industry took giant steps in shifting from traditional flowers to cut flowers for export purposes. This era has seen a dynamic shift from sustenance production to commercial production. India has exported 21024.41 MT of floriculture products to the world worth 88.38 USD Million during 2022-23 and the major export destinations are U.S.A, Netherlands, UAE, U.K etc.
Karnataka is one of the leading states in the country contributing significantly towards the agriculture/horticulture export basket of the nation. It is also major floriculture growing state in the country. The state with the favorable and conducive agro climatic conditions and entrepreneur friendly has good potential to increase the export of floriculture especially Cut Roses from the state.
The country's first flower auction Centre located in Bengaluru is one of the largest flower trading centres in the country catering to the marketing of flowers. As large number of floriculture growers and exporters are associated with the auction centre, APEDA proposes to organize a Buyer Seller Meet (BSM) on virtual mode. The BSM has been scheduled to be held on 10th January, 2023 at 6:00pm (IST) considering various time zones.
The BSM will have participation of importers from other countries as well as to promote floriculture products exclusively from the state of Karnataka. In view of the demand for Cut Roses during Valentine’s Day celebration of 2024, the BSM is proposed to be organized in early January 2023. It is anticipated that the increased demand for Cut Roses can be tapped by the state through this event. Hence, it is kindly requested to mobilize the participation of importers of Cut Roses from Netherlands.
