It’s getting out of hand
Memories drift here in fragments.
Interiors flicker, voices echo faintly, silences press close.
Dreams linger, half-formed and suspended between recollection and imagination.
…Snatches of the past return in the form of conversations just barely overheard, gatherings tinted with distant extravagances, houses filled with splendour and secrecy.
These moments resist closure, too vivid to forget, too elusive to fully hold.
Kalra’s paintings become sites where memory itself is at play, sanguine yet haunting, deeply personal yet uncannily shared. Architectural traces anchor her imagery, while atmospheres seep in like afterimages of a once-lived life. The result is a poetry of remembering and misremembering, where beauty and melancholy entwine… and where what is hidden refuses to remain unseen.
It’s Getting Out of Hand invites you to step over this threshold and wander through what is remembered, what is imagined, and what lingers in between.
