On 21st of October 2014, the Netherlands India Chamber of Commerce and Trade (NICCT) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the 9th Netherlands India Business Meet (NIBM) in Amstelveen. The MOU was signed by Mr. R.L.Lakhina, the Chairman of the NICCT and Mr. Girish Ramachandran, the Chairman of the Benelux Committee of CII.
Signing this MoU will strengthen the economic and trade ties between India and the Netherlands and is a new dimension to NICCT’ activities and collaboration between the two countries. This MoU will take the cooperation with India to a new level. By signing this MoU both parties have agreed to cooperate with each other in strengthening The Netherlands India Business and economic relations. Both parties have specifically agreed that CII will send a delegation to the NIBM every year and both parties will jointly organize NIBM India every two years.
CII is a non-governmental, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization, playing a proactive role in India’s development process. CII can be compared with the Dutch VNO-NCW. CII has 7100 members and an indirect membership of over 90.000 enterprises from around 257 national, regional and sectoral bodies.
The signing ceremony was part of the Netherlands India Business Meet (NIBM) program. As every year, also this year NIBM was a great success. Over 200 companies were present to listen to inspirering speakers as René Boender, H.E. Mr. Rajesh Nandan Prasad (Ambassador of India to the Netherlands), Jan Hommen (KPMG) and Mr. Diederik Fetter (Hotraco). A lively panel discussion about Commercial Championship Strategies was vibrantly guided by Vidhya Sampath (TCS). She ensured that David Moore (SPAR International), Peter Zonneveld (Danieli Corus), Huib Smit (Allround Vegetable Processing) & Henk Bijsterbosch (Greenfields) opened up towards the audience in an enthusiastic way and shared their strategies with the listeners.
