From 10:00 until 17:00
At India Habitat Centre, New Delhi
Please find below details of the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) to be held from January 29-31, 2020 in New Delhi (India Habitat Centre), India. The theme for this year will be "Towards 2030 Goals: Making the Decade Count".
The World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) is the annual flagship event of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). It has in its journey of eighteen years become a focal point for global leaders and practitioners to congregate at a single platform to discuss and deliberate over climatic issues of universal importance. The Summit series has emerged as the premier international event on sustainability which focusses on the global future, but with an eye on the actions in the developing world which could bend our common future.
The WSDS has continued the legacy of the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) which was initiated in 2001 with the aim of making ‘sustainable development’ a globally shared goal. The Summit series has over the years brought together 47 heads of state and government, 13 Nobel laureates, ministers from 67 countries, 1600 business leaders, 1800+ speakers and over 12,000 delegates from across the world. Possibly the sole Summit on global issues taking place in the developing world, WSDS now strives to provide long-term solutions for the benefit of the global community by assembling the world's most enlightened leaders and thinkers on a single platform. An overview document with key highlights of the 2019 edition of the Summit is enclosed for your perusal.
As a pre-cursor to the WSDS, we will be holding the ‘Sustainable Action Dialogues: Pre-events to WSDS in Monaco & USA’ with the following details:
Monaco: The dialogue will be held in partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation on July 3, 2019 (following the Solar & Electric Boat Challenge in Monaco to be held from July 2 to 6, 2019). The day-long session will focus on the themes of ‘Renewable Energy - A Viable Tool for Clean Energy Transitions’ and ‘Advancing Electric Mobility in Cities: Addressing Critical Challenges (Policies, regulations and technology)’. The announcement for the Monaco event scheduled for July 3, 2019 is attached. The html format is also attached through which registration can be done.
USA: The dialogue will be held in partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation and alongside the UN 2019 Climate Summit in September, 2019 in New York, USA. The focus of this dialogue will be towards hard-to-abate sectors and to identify how international cooperation can constructively contribute to de-carbonisation of industry.
The discussions held during the above dialogues will be brought forward to the WSDS 2020 stage in January next year where they will be further deliberated in the presence of both international and national experts from the industry and especially from the government side.
Additionally, at the WSDS 2020 platform, Messe Munchen International will be partnering with us to showcase innovations in the area of environment and sustainable development. The partnership proposes not only the display of world’s technology innovations but also seeks to promote alliances for a speedy uptake of these technologies in regions around the world.
