SAC opens their Gallery during Sail Amsterdam!

Member of NICCT (South Asian Contemporary Art Amsterdam) Opens their Gallery during SAIL AMSTERDAM!

SAC will be open from 11am to 6pm, 20-24th August, without an appointment (Panamakade 200, Amsterdam)

Make a day of it in the Eastern Docklands by combining a walk around the clippers at SAIL 2025 which returns to the city after 10 years, and indulging in viewing some cutting edge South Asian Contemporary art.

At the gallery, we’ll have cold drinks, very cool art and we are a 5-min walk from the hub of SAIL. The Indian clipper Tarangini will be at SAIL this year as well.

Chai and Conversations
As part of our Open Gallery days during SAIL 2025, surrounded by clippers from all over the world, we invite you to share a special afternoon of Chai and Conversations at our gallery in the Eastern Docklands / Oostelijke Havengebied, exclusively curated by Tasty Talks.

Join us for a walk through of our current show, ‘My Veins don’t end in me’ by Aditi Singh, Amina Ahmed, Tanuja Rane and Varunika Saraf, and a conversation over a delectable high tea, albeit, with an Indian flair – think saffron scones and masala chai. We will talk about the curation and acquisition of South Asian contemporary art in Amsterdam; chat about the current S. Asian contemporary art ‘scene’; learn about the processes used by the artists in this show; and finally, discuss ways to start your own, young collection. We have limited spots. Learn Beading
Join a Sri Lankan Traditional Beading Workshop with Chathuri Nissansala, Kagul Collective and current resident at the Rijksakademie. Southern Sri Lankan traditional performative rituals contain an amalgamation of numerous artistic practices. A branch of the performing tradition includes textile and costume making diversified regionally in the form of ritualistic “thovil” or exorcist practices to other forms of “shanthikarma” or curative/ healing rituals which contain diverse attire aesthetics. These include intricate cosmological beading techniques that communicate language of healing and transgression. We opened our anniversary show, ‘My Veins don’t end in me’ with a powerful performance by Chathuri and she will commence the finnisage of this show by hosting 2 workshops at the gallery:
29th of August from 19:00-21:00 and 7th September from 15:00-17:00.
