Indian Government has notified the National Offshore Wind Energy Policy, 2015 providing a regulatory framework and insitutional support to kick-start a robust offshore wind energy sector. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), nodal ministry for the development of offshore wind energy projects, issued the strategy for establishment of offshore wind energy projects in September 2023 (available on https://t.ly/jzmgA).
In line with the strategy, Ministry through its Public Sector Entriprise named Solar Energy Corporation of India, issued tender for leasing out seabed off the coast of Tamil Nadu for the development of offshore wind energy projects of 4 GW capacity on 02.02.2024 (the detailed tender document along with other contractual documents are available on http://t.ly/aiWBi). In addition, Hon’ble Finance Minister, Govt. of India announced a Viability Gap Funding Scheme for development of 01 GW offshore wind energy capacity in the interim budget speech for FY24-25.
To advertise the 04 GW tender, Ministry has published a public notice in the month of September 2023 (public notice is available on http://t.ly/vsqfa). As Netherlands has a developed offshore wind ecosystem, participation of industry of Netherlands in the tender will expedite the development of Indian offshore wind sector. Accordingly, it is requested that the offshore wind industry of Netherlands may be encouraged to participation in the tender. The participation of Netherlands will promote the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows to India and strengthen bi-lateral relations.
